Eastern Scotland facing water scarcity despite storms and flooding

SEPA's weekly report shows the River Don, Esk and Tay could hit critical levels.

For the third time this year, eastern Scotland is facing the threat of significant water scarcity on its rivers.

SEPA’s weekly report shows the River Don, Esk and Tay could hit critical levels within two weeks.

That’s despite thunderstorms and flash flooding affecting parts of Tayside and Aberdeenshire.

Scottish Water has ruled out the possibility of hosepipe bans, as it continues to monitor its reservoirs.

Meanwhile, wildfire warnings will blanket much of the country from next week.
