The number of suspected drug deaths in the North East of Scotland has more than doubled since the same period last year.

Quarterly figures show that 900 people are thought to have lost their lives to drugs across Scotland since the start of this year.

An Aberdeen charity that helps those with addiction issues says intervention at a local level is the only way to combat the number of deaths.
