A man who caused the death of his 19-year-old friend in a high-speed crash in Aberdeen has been jailed for seven years at the High Court in Aberdeen.

Josh Buchan pled guilty to a charge of death by dangerous driving, and also admitted driving at speeds of up to 124 miles per hour three months prior to this incident.

19-year-old Ben Taylor was killed when Buchan lost control of his Audi RS3, which he was driving at 108 miles per hour as he entered a bend.

In a statement, Ben’s mother, Trudi Walsh, said she hoped Ben’s story would make others stop and think before getting into saying, “Young drivers and passengers need to understand that the risks are real. You are not invincible,” stating the event had completely changed her life, and the lives of many other, forever.
