Decisions ‘chipped away at women’s safety’ Scottish Covid inquiry hears

The inquiry heard how the 'stay safe at home' message overlooked how home was not always the safest place for some

Incompetent decisions taken during the early stages of the pandemic, “chipped away at women’s safety” and led to more domestic abuse – that’s what the Scottish Covid 19 inquiry heard today.

Speakers from women’s organisations said lockdown left fewer chances for women and children to flee or seek support, with emergency accommodation constantly full.

And also how women took on a disproportionate amount of childcare and caring roles, which created enormous added stress and anxiety.
