Scotland’s legal profession is on a collision course with campaigners for victims of sexual crimes over proposals to hold a pilot of jury-less trials in rape cases.

The law society says the plan is flawed and lacks evidence to support it – but the charity rape crisis Scotland says the change would help improve the low rate of convictions.
