A crime boss who orchestrated a plot to smuggle cocaine worth £100m from South America in boxes of bananas has been jailed for 20 years.
Jamie Stevenson, who is known as the Iceman, admitted directing the importation of the drug and running a street Valium pill factory – which could churn out 250,000 tablets an hour.
Five other members of his gang – including the fruit merchant who provided a front for the cocaine trafficking – were jailed for a total of 29 years for their role in this complex operation.
