A former frontline care worker has told STV News of desperate attempts to get PPE – from painters and decorators in the early days of the pandemic, as none was provided.

It comes as the STUC’s general secretary told the UK Covid inquiry in Edinburgh, a “deadly combination” of poor planning and understaffing put key workers in the eye of the storm with no protection.
