Council to meet with RBS over last Tranent bank closure

The bank says the closure is due to footfall dropping 70% since 2019

East Lothian council has passed a motion to hold an urgent meeting with bosses of the Royal Bank of Scotland, after the announcement the last remaining bank in Tranent is set to close.

It comes seven years after the bank closed its branch in neighbouring Prestonpans – now Tranent residents are worried about what the decision will mean for the future of the town.
