Council tax could rise 22.5% for some under new proposals

The Government is asking Scots for their views on the potential increases in a consultation

Homeowners could be forced to pay as much as 22 and a half percent more council tax if Scottish Government plans to increase bills go ahead.

One woman has told STV News that despite being branded as a fairer way to generate more income for local governments, it’s anything but.

Council tax bills have already gone up by 5% this year.

The issue will be discussed in the Scottish Parliament tomorrow.
