Council pays out more than £1.2m for cycle accidents on tramlines

Edinburgh's Transport Convenor says he's ashamed there's been no "material change" to improve safety at a tram junction that claimed the life of a medical student five years ago

Zhi Min Soh was hit by a bus in 2017 after her bike got stuck in the tram lines.

A Freedom of Information request shows the city council has paid out more than £1.2 million for cyclists’ accidents on the tracks.

Compensation lawyers say that figure is only going up.
