Cost of living crisis high on agenda at Royal Highland Show

Farmers say they want to be paid a fair price for their produce

On the first day of the Royal Highland Show, the cost of living crisis is also high on on the agenda.

We may be seeing higher prices in the supermarket – but those at the start of the supply chain are also feeling the pinch.

The sector is worth £16 billion to Scottish economy, employing 130,000 people.

Of course farmers have been battling energy costs, rising prices of feed, labour costs, the list goes on.

The risk of farmers leaving the industry poses a serious threat to our supply chain.
