Consultation on banning unhealthy meal deal snacks ends

The Scottish Government say improving the nation's health is a priority

There could be crack down on price promotions like meal deals and buy-one-get-one-free offers in shops and supermarkets across the country.

The Scottish Government’s consultation on the issue, which ended on Tuesday, has angered businesses who warn it could limit choice for customers.

Regulations would restrict the prices of foods high in fat, sugar or salt. It would also consider where they are located in stores.

Nutritionists warn there are numerous negative health outcomes linked to these foods and that decision makers must take action.
