Conditions at prison found to ‘breach standards of human dignity’

It comes as MSPs prepare to vote on the emergency early release of up to 1,000 prisoners.

Conditions in HMP Glenochil “continue to breach minimum standards of human dignity”, a report has found.

His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Prisons for Scotland said the report paints a “sobering picture” of the overcrowding situation across the estate.

It comes as MSPs prepare to vote on the emergency early release of up to 1,000 prisoners.
