Refuse collector strike has spread to 20 council areas, in a dispute over pay

There’s growing concern that rubbish piling up on the streets of Edinburgh could be turning into a public health hazard, as waste and refuse workers continue their 12 days of strike action.

The dispute has now spread to 20 councils across Scotland with a further 8 day-long walk outs announced for next month.
