Concern of number of children in temporary accommodation

The new housing minister says he accepts that more needs to be done

Scotland’s high levels of child poverty could be made even worse by the number of families living in temporary homeless accommodation for prolonged periods of time.

That’s the fear of campaigners, who say substandard housing has an impact on education, health, and development.

More than nine thousand children are in short-term housing – and there are concerns the cost-of-living crisis and pressure to support Ukrainian refugees is exacerbating the problem.
