Commemorations to mark 100th Metagama anniversary

Some direct descendants are returning to the Western Isles to meet distant relatives

Commemorations have been taking place in Lewis to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the Metagama emigration.

Hundreds of people left the island on the ship for a new life in Canada due to economic hardship following the First World War and the Iolaire tragedy.
