Last night was the coldest January night in the UK in 15 years as temperatures plummeted to -14.5C in Altnaharra in the Highlands.
A yellow warning for snow and ice remained in place until 10am this morning, causing disruptions to schools and travel.
More than 50 schools were unable to open in Aberdeenshire and the Highlands.
Meanwhile, in Aberdeen, homeless charities have raised concerns about those struggling with the freezing conditions.
