Chancellor announces biggest tax cuts in 50 years

The Scottish Government has committed to publishing the outcome of its emergency budget review within two weeks

This is the biggest raft of tax cuts for half a century, worth £45 billion by 2027. The treasury says 2.3 million Scottish workers will get a national insurance cut worth around £285 year – though of course inflation continues to go up.

But some part time workers who claim benefits risk having these cut if they don’t look for more work or fail to take what was described as ‘active steps’ to boost their income.
