Care providers warn close to collapse as staff leave sector

An exclusive STV News report found a care home was charged £9,000 a week by an agency for one nurse

Care providers say they’re on the brink of collapse, as permanent staff are leaving en masse for better paying, and more flexible agency work.

Another agency has now responded to the findings, branding these charges as “extreme” and “morally wrong.”

Search Consultancy say they’re simply filling a gap in the labour market, but accept the sheer number of new agencies cropping up and the prices they charge are unsustainable, with more regulation needed.
