Untested hospital patients being discharged into care homes during the early stages of the pandemic was a “disaster waiting to happen” – the UK Covid 19 inquiry has heard.
Giving evidence in Edinburgh this morning, Dr Donald Macaskill from Scottish Care said staff faced “undeniable pressure” to “help the NHS” and accept the patients.
He added, there was a lack of respect or understanding of social care, and public health Scotland guidance made residents prisoners in their own homes.
