Car recovered amid investigation into Hogmanay shooting

Officers were called to the Anchor Inn near Granton Crescent after receiving reports of a shooting on New Year's Eve.

A car has been recovered amid an investigation into a double shooting outside a pub on Hogmanay.

Marc Webley was shot outside the Anchor Inn on Granton Crescent in Edinburgh on December 31, along with a second man who has not been named.

Police were called to the pub shortly before midnight on New Year’s Eve, and believe that an armed driver pulled up to the premises in a red Hyundai Tucson.

On Wednesday, police confirmed they had recovered a car in Darvel Gait and said enquiries to establish if this was the car involved are “ongoing”.

The two men were rushed to hospital where Marc Webley later died. The second man is believed to be in a serious but stable condition.

Local community leaders look to reassure residents.
