Campaigners welcome infected blood scandal interim payment

The UK Government said they recognise 'time is of the essence'.

A Scottish campaigner has welcomed moves to give some victims of the infected blood scandal interim compensation payments within 90 days.

The UK Government has proposed that the first full compensation payments will also be made to those infected and their families before the end of the year.

The First Minister has followed the Prime Minister in apologising to those affected, saying families had endured decades of unnecessary heartbreak and pain.
