Campaigners call for minimum unit pricing to be raised

A report has shown that alcohol related deaths have decreased since it was introduced

Campaigners want the minimum unit price of alcohol to increase from 50 to 65 pence following a report showing the policy has reduced deaths.

Public Health Scotland estimates around 150 fewer people have died on average each year since it was introduced in 2018.

However the report also found the scheme has had a limited impact on the most harmful drinkers.

The Scottish Government says it will consider the findings.
