CalMac CEO on Uist meeting residents over ferry cancellations

Local businesses say further disruption will force them to close their doors for good

The Chief executive of CalMac says he can’t guarantee vessels won’t be removed from routes in the future after meeting residents in South Uist.

250 islanders turned up to a public meeting after their only direct service was cancelled for the whole of June.

CalMac says it’s committed to resuming sailings from the first of July.
