Calls for public inquiry over health board complaints

A local councillor claims poor practices endangered patient safety

Calls are being made for a public inquiry into claims that NHS Western Isles failed to investigate fully complaints from a number of patients and staff.

A councillor says information was suppressed, endangering residents because complaints were not acted on.

The board says the allegations are inaccurate, lack evidence and risk causing unnecessary alarm.
