Calls for Holyrood to expand fertility treatment to single women

Currently only couples who are eligible for any NHS funding

More Scots than ever before are undergoing fertility treatment in a bid to become parents.

In particular, the number of single women looking to access treatment is on the rise.

One woman is calling on the Scottish Government to expand free fertility services on the NHS.

She says the current policy is discriminatory and leaves some single women, who can’t afford to go private, with few options. In the first in a series of special reports, STV News looks at the burgeoning business of fertility and the unregulated world of online sperm donation.
