Heart valve disease is one of the leading causes of death in Scotland – affecting around 73,000 people – but experts believe that only one in three patients are being diagnosed.

Medics say many people don’t recognise the symptoms.

Today hundreds of people have been getting their heart checked for free in Edinburgh by cardiologists and cardiac nurses in the hope of saving more lives.
