Bills to rise as energy price cap increase confirmed for January

It means someone using a typical amount of gas and electricity will now pay £1,738 a year.

Household energy bills are set to become even more expensive from January.

The energy regulator Ofgem has confirmed a 1.2% increase to its price cap, the second consecutive rise.

After gas and electricity prices went up by 10% in October, many of those who rely on using the heating to keep warm are worried they won’t be able to afford their bills.
