Beaver populations bounce 15 years on from reintroduction

NatureScot says the animals play an important role in helping restore biodiversity

The project to move beavers from Tayside to other areas across the country is helping restore the species, 15 years on from when the first animals were brought back to the wild.

Beavers had previously been hunted to extinction in Scotland, but NatureScot says around 2,000 of the animals have now made their homes alongside the country’s rivers.
