Avian Flu Task Force on alert as dead birds continue to wash up

Testing will be key in getting a clearer picture on whether avian flu is the main cause of the deaths

The country’s Avian Flu Task Force is on high alert as hundreds of dead seabirds continue to be washed up on beaches.

It comes after more than 550 were removed from the Aberdeenshire coast, while Aberdeen City Council says it’s recovered around 50 dead birds.

The SSPCA is warning the public to stay away from any remains. with many more expected to be discovered in the coming days.
