A landmark proposal to legalise assisted dying in Scotland is a “matter of conscience” and individual MSPs should be free to vote as they choose on the matter, a Holyrood committee has said.
The vote next month will be the third time the Scottish Parliament has considered the move, which would allow adults with a terminal illness to seek help to end their life.
MSPs are being urged to scrutinise whether the proposals strike the right balance between providing choice and protecting vulnerable groups.
