Arbroath lifeboat station head dismissed by the RNLI

It is the latest development in a dispute around a new lifeboat delivered to the station

The head volunteer at Arbroath lifeboat station – which is at the centre of a long-running dispute with RNLI bosses – has been dismissed.

Alex Smith – who held the position for nearly 15 years – has been removed with immediate effect.

Management blamed a “breakdown of trust”.

STV News understands another senior volunteer has resigned in protest, raising concerns over the operation of the 220 year old station.
