Appeal for blood donors as national stocks run low

The number of people turning up to donate over the summer has seen a fall.

There’s an appeal for more people to come forward to be blood donors – as Scotland’s stocks reach lower levels over the summer.

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service is asking for more people with O negative blood to donate – as the type can be used to help any patient.

There’s also an appeal for more younger donors after the Covid pandemic caused the number of 17-year-olds registering to stall.
