The Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home has seen a staggering 236% rise in the number of pets being handed in because their owners can no longer afford to look after them.
The shelter says the cost of living crisis has led to heart-breaking situations and has now launched a winter appeal for support to help people keep their animals at home.
