Deaths from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia are at their highest level in more than 20 years, with more than 6,600 recorded last year.
That’s around one in ten of all deaths in Scotland. Leading charities say the figures are a stark warning and are calling for more consistent care across the country.
STV News has been speaking to a man whose wife died five years after her diagnosis.
He says support only comes at “crisis point”.
