Scotland could have a new, environmentally-friendly alternative to burial or cremation as early as next year.
Water cremation, or alkaline hydrolysis, uses a controlled chemical process that breaks down the body, leaving only the bones.
It’s already used in countries like the United States, Canada and Ireland.
If approved, it would be the first new end of life option offered here in more than a century.
