For remote communities, it has become vital for saving lives. ScotSTAR is a national retrieval service for patients in rural areas.
It uses specialist vehicles and aircraft to transport babies and children as well as critically ill adults to hospital.
This month marks 10 years since the service was formed.
Rural communities now rely on the care and support it provides.
