Throughout the 1960s girls from Glasgow were sent to Fornethy House in Angus for up to two months at a time.
There, they say they suffered physical and sexual abuse.
Because it was only short-term they can’t apply to the redress scheme set up by John Swinney when he was deputy First Minister.
Their petition is still being considered in the Scottish Parliament, but they are hoping the First Minister will step in.
