Aberdeenshire butchers sold to business in England

Donald Russell said it had faced mounting challenges in recent years due to fluctuating meat prices.

The sale of the Donald Russell Brand, website and IP has been announced to Dukeshills, a company based in England.

When the closure was announced in February, Donald Russell said it had faced mounting challenges in recent years, blaming fluctuating meat prices and unpredictable energy costs.

Last year, the business closed its cold storage distribution centre in Kintore, resulting in around 70 people leaving the business.

Almost 80 roles have now been transferred to the new owners, but a 30-day redundancy consultation is still under way with those staff members, meaning their roles could still be at risk.
