The AA has dealt with more than 600,000 pothole related incidents last year- the highest for five years.
Now, as part of a drive to fix the issue, Midlothian Council is on track to permanently repair five thousand potholes in a year with its new Pothole Pro machine.
Known as the “tarminator”, the machine cuts away damaged road and replaces it within eight minutes.
