30,000 without power as storm batters Highlands and Islands

The first-named storm of the year, Otto, has brought gales of more than 80 miles per hour

30,000 homes and businesses are without power tonight as high winds continue to cause disruption.

Dozens of schools in the North and North-East have been closed and the high winds have also caused damage to vehicles and buildings.
