Rangers defender Robbie Fraser has signed a new two-year contract extension at Ibrox.

The 21-year-old, who made his first team debut at the end of last season, has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him tied to the club until 2026.

Fraser also earned his first Scotland under-21 cap in November and is believed to be highly rated by the coaching staff at Rangers.

Philippe Clement handed Fraser a taste of the first-team during the 5-2 Premiership win over Dundee at Ibrox in May.

He then made his first start for the club in the Scottish Premiership season finale against Hearts at Tynecastle four days later.

And with the departure of long-term left-back Borna Barisic, who signed for Turkish side Trabzonspor, the youngster could be set to play a key-part for Rangers in the coming season as they look to qualify for the Champions League and compete for all three domestic trophies.

Speaking after signing his new contract, Fraser commented: “It’s a special moment and a big day for people close to me, my family and friends.

“I take so much pride in being involved with this football club and it’s a really good feeling to stay for a couple more years.

“The manager has shown an added faith in the young players, and he has given me my opportunity in the first-team which I’m so happy about.

“I have a lot to be thankful for and I can really see positive strides for me moving forward.”
