Former Manchester United teammate Bruno Fernandes was eventually awarded the goal, his first of a doubel in the 2-0 win over Uruguay.
Today’s fixtures and how to watch
Ecuador v Senegal (3pm, ITV4 and STV Player)
Netherlands v Qatar (3pm, STV and STV Player)
Iran v USA (7pm, BBC)
Wales v England (7pm, BBC)
One to watch
The ‘battle of Britain’ clash between Wales and England will be the one to watch this evening as Gareth Bale comes up against Gareth Southgate.
England are almost certainly in the last 16 already and only a four-goal defeat would be enough to see them knocked out.
Failing a 4-0 win, Wales will need to beat their closest neighbours and hope USA and Iran draw to have any hope of reaching the knockout stages.
