Glasgow Warriors and Scotland star Huw Jones is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on a troublesome Achilles injury.
He now faces a race against time to be ready for the national team’s Autumn internationals, which kick off in six weeks.
Gregor Townsend’s side host the USA, New Zealand, Tonga and Argentina throughout the month of November.
Jones will miss the start of the new domestic season, with Warriors kicking off their campaign against the Sharks at Scotstoun on Friday.
The 31-year-old, who played for the British and Irish Lions over the summer, has been dogged by the tendon issue for much of 2025.
The centre starred for the Lions in their 2-1 series over the Wallabies in Australia, but has been managing an ongoing issue that manager Franco Smith described as a “chronic Achilles problem”.
He posted a picture from a hospital bed to social media on Monday, revealing the surgery and saying he will be “back soon”.
Speaking to STV Sport last week, Smith said: “Huw has a chronic Achilles problem.
“He played over the summer with the Lions and had a lot of training, so the sooner we get that chronic pain away, the better it is for us.”
