Football fans have been warned of “fraudulent” emails offering fans tickets to the Scottish Cup Final this month.

No tickets are currently on sale for the Hibs and St Johnstone game on May 22, although UEFA has confirmed a “limited number” of supporters will be able to attend Hampden park.

Hibs issued a warning asking anyone who receives the scam email not to click on any of the links included or provide any personal details and report it.

A spokesperson from the club said: “We have been made aware of fraudulent emails purporting to offer fans Scottish Cup Final tickets. Please note no tickets are currently on sale.

“If you receive the below email offering Scottish Cup Final tickets please report it and do not click on any links or provide personal details. We are in regular conversations with the Scottish Football Association and will provide more information to fans as soon as possible.”

The message, claiming to be from “The Hibernian Team”, reads: “We have some wonderful news for you. You have been selected as one of our most valued supporters and would like to reward you by giving you the opportunity to purchase two tickets for the upcoming Scottish Cup Final.

“As you will know this is taking place at Hampden Park, on May 22, 2021. A 2pm kick-off.

“All you need to do is log-in to eTicketing, all the information you will require is there. This includes what you are required to do in relation to Covid measures.

“Hope we all have a great day. Glory, Glory to The Hibees.”

Changes to lockdown rules mean that up to 500 supporters can attend events at Scottish stadia from Monday, May 17, with more possible with special permission.

Yesterday, the Scottish Football Association confirmed it had made submission to the Scottish Government to increase the number of fans permitted at the match.

The SFA is hopeful up to 2000 supporters will be allowed into Hampden to watch Hibs play St Johnstone.
