Vaclav Cerny believes Rangers’ 4-0 Europa League win over FCSB at Ibrox was the right response to the damaging weekend defeat at Kilmarnock.

There was huge pressure on boss Philippe Clement and his players following the 1-0 Premiership loss to Killie at Rugby Park on Sunday dented title hopes and the Light Blues attacked the game against the Romanian outfit with hunger and desire.

Midfielder Tom Lawrence opened the scoring in the 10th minute and wide-man Cerny notched either side of the break with second-half substitute Hamza Igamane scoring his first goal for the Gers since signing in the summer from Moroccan side AS FAR to make it six points from nine in the competition.

Ahead of the home game against St Mirren on Sunday, Czech Republic international Cerny, on loan from VfL Wolfsburg, said: “Yeah, big win obviously. Good football as well, dominant with the pressing, nice four goals, a clean sheet. That’s exactly what we needed.

“It just shows that we are able to put a game like this but the goal must be to try to do it every three days.

“That’s what we want and what we want to do. Obviously, we needed a win like this and now we want to build on this.

“The victory comes first, the clean sheet comes first and I mean it.

“Two great goals but in the end that’s my job and I’m so happy I could do that again.
