UEFA have dismissed an appeal against Rangers striker Kermar Roofe’s suspension for four games.

Roofe had been sent off during the Ibrox side’s 2-nil defeat to Slavia Prague in the Europa League quarter-final on March 18, after a challenge on Slavia keeper Ondrej Kolar that left the goalie with a fractured skull.

UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body (CEDB) ruled that he should miss his next four European games “for dangerously assaulting another player”.

Rangers were also punished with a €9000 fine due to “the improper conduct of the team”.

Slavia’s Ondrej Kudela was banned for ten games for racially abusing Rangers player Glen Kamara in the same game. The Ibrox midfielder was handed a three-game suspension for assault.

A decision updated from UEFA’s disciplinary matters page read: “The appeal lodged by Rangers FC has been dismissed. Consequently, the UEFA CEDB decision of April 13, 2021 is confirmed.

“The CEDB had decided to suspend Rangers FC player, Mr. Kemar Roofe, for four UEFA club competition matches for which he would be otherwise eligible, for dangerously assaulting another player.”
