UCI Cycling World Championships: Scots in action on day seven of ‘mega event’ SNS Group

The UCI Cycling World Championships have reached day seven as the first week of the “mega event” is complete.

Five Scots will be an action across the seven events being held on Wednesday.

Glasgow, Stirling, Dumfries and Galloway and Glentress Forest near Peebles will be hosting the competitions that includes BMX challenges and an under-23 road race.

BMX Racing challenges, that will culminate in the in the World Masters Day 4: Masters final are underway at the Glasgow BMX Centre.

The Mountain-Bike Cross-Country team relay well get underway at Glentress Forest from 12.30pm when riders have to fight through kilometres of tough terrain in a test of endurance.

Emily Carrick-Anderson, Charlie Aldridge and Anna McGorum will be the Scots taking part in that event.

Dumfries and Galloway is playing host to the Para-Cycling Road Race individual team trials with 14 separate trials on distances of 11.5km, 16.9km and 28.1km.

The Men’s Under-23 Road Race individual time trials get underway in Stirling from 2.30pm where competitors will take on a 36.2km race through the city.

Glasgow Green will then take the stage as it hosts the BMX Freestyle Flatland: Men’s Elite semi-final from 4pm before the medalling events also take place at the park in the east-end of the city from 6pm.At 5

Action at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome begins at 5.30pm for a string of events including the Women Elite Sprint semi-finals and final and the Men’s Elite Points Race.

Katie Archibald, who already has gold from efforts at Velodrome, will take part in the Women’s Elite Omnium race and fellow Scot Callum Thornley will compete in the Men U23 Individual Time Trial
