Todd Cantwell has said he ‘signed for a different Rangers than the one he left’ following his departure from Glasgow.
The 26-year-old joined Blackburn Rovers on deadline day on Friday in a move worth up to £600,000.
It came after Rangers manager Philippe Clement revealed the midfielder asked for a transfer after he was absent during a 2-1 friendly defeat by Birmingham City earlier in the summer.
However, upon his departure the playmaker took to social media and praised the club, but said that he “signed for a different Rangers”.
He wrote: “It’s been a honour to play for this incredible football club, some of the staff behind the scenes are the hardest of workers but also incredible people.
“I have enjoyed every moment of playing in the famous blue and 100% every time I did.
“I never and would never say I didn’t want to play for the club and that was never my decision.
“Me and my family are Rangers for life. I signed for a different Rangers than the one that I leave.”
Rangers made moves themselves on deadline day bringing in defender Neraysho Kasanwirjo and midfielder Nedim Bajrami.
Bajrami joins in a £3.4m deal from Italian side Sassuolo, while Kasanwirjo – who can play at full-back or centre-back – arrives on a season-long loan from Feyenoord.
