Hearts defender Toby Sibbick has left the club to join Wigan Athletic on a permanent transfer.
The 25-year-old sealed a move to the English League One side on Wednesday for an undisclosed fee after initially signing for the Jambos on loan in 2020.
He made 87 appearances for the club in total, scoring one goal against rivals Hibs in a Scottish Cup derby tie in 2023.
Speaking to the club’s website, head coach Steven Naismith said: “I had an honest conversation with Toby and told him that chances to play first-team football were going to be limited.
“That’s natural in football as your squad evolves over time, so it makes sense for him to move on.
“I’m happy that he’s got a move to a good club.
“Toby is an excellent professional and I’m sure he’ll do well at Wigan.
“I thank him, on behalf of everybody at the club, for all of his efforts at Hearts and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
Sibbick posted on X: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Hearts for the past two and a half years.
“It was a pleasure to come back and play for this club.
“As always, some huge ups and some downs. Made some friends for life which I’m grateful for and I wish them nothing but the best.”
